Acela Express

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Acela Express is a high-speed trainset that Amtrak introduced in 2000 on its Northeast Corridor route linking Boston, New York and Washington, the fastest passenger train in regular service in North America. Built with a tilting mechanism to take curves at higher speed on a route largely shared with slower conventional and freight traffic, it has served as Amtrak's premium service on its busiest corridor for more than two decades.
