Hawker Aircraft Ltd

Hawker Aircraft Ltd was a British aircraft manufacturer formed in 1933 as a renaming of the H.G. Hawker Engineering company, becoming one of the United Kingdom's most significant military aircraft builders of the twentieth century. It produced the Hawker Hurricane, the fighter that bore the brunt of the fighting and shot down the largest number of enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain, and went on to build the Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Fury and the Hunter jet fighter. Hawker became part of the Hawker Siddeley group formed in 1935 alongside Armstrong Siddeley and other manufacturers, and its aircraft engineering lineage continued through Hawker Siddeley into what eventually became part of British Aerospace.
