Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

UD Trucks Corporation is a Japanese company whose principal business is making and selling diesel trucks, buses, bus chassis and special-purpose vehicles, headquartered in Ageo, Saitama, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Isuzu since 2021. Until 2010 it was known as Nissan Diesel. Its roots lie in Nihon Diesel Industries, established in December 1935 near Tokyo, and the UD name came from its Uniflow Diesel two-stroke engine of 1955. Nissan Motor acquired the company as Minsei Diesel in 1960 and renamed it Nissan Diesel Motor; Volvo bought a stake in 2006 and raised it to 96 percent in 2007, and Isuzu acquired it from Volvo in April 2021.
