Ducati is an Italian motorcycle maker founded in Bologna in 1926 by the Ducati family, originally producing electrical components. After the war it made small motorcycles and then, under the engineer Fabio Taglioni, developed the desmodromic valve gear and the V-twin engine layout that became its trademark. The 916 superbike and the Monster naked bike were important models. Ducati has belonged to Audi and so to the Volkswagen group since 2012.
