The Birmingham Small Arms Company, known as BSA, was a British engineering group that began in 1861 as a gun maker and later produced bicycles, cars and motorcycles. By the 1950s BSA was the largest motorcycle maker in the world, its models including the Bantam lightweight and the Gold Star single. It also owned Triumph and other marques before sales declined, and the motorcycle division was wound up in the 1970s.
