Duesenberg was an American maker of luxury cars and racing cars, set up by the brothers Fred and August Duesenberg in Indiana. Its racing cars won the Indianapolis 500 several times, and the Model J of 1928 was one of the most powerful and expensive cars of its day, with a straight-eight engine of about 265 horsepower. The company ended in 1937 in the Depression. The marque became a symbol of American luxury in the late 1920s and 1930s, and surviving cars are valued by collectors as some of the most prestigious American motor cars.
