Yuejin, written Yue Jin and meaning Leap Forward in Mandarin, is the vehicle brand of Nanjing Automobile, a state-owned Chinese manufacturer whose history goes back to 1947 and which the source calls the oldest of the Chinese automobile manufacturers. The brand began with light-duty trucks: in 1958 the works started making China's first domestically produced light-duty trucks, the 2.5 ton NJ-130, based on the Soviet GAZ-51, and approval for Nanjing Automobile Works came in the same year. Truck production under the early brand continued until July 1987, by which time 161,988 units of models including the NJ-130, NJ-230, NJ-135 and NJ-134 had been built. In the mid-1980s the maker bought designs and moulds from Isuzu and technology from the Italian Iveco, and it later sold a car based on the first-generation SEAT Ibiza as the Nanjing Yuejin Soyat. Nanjing Auto merged with the much larger SAIC in 2007 and became a subsidiary of that company.
