Statesman was an automotive marque created in 1971 by Holden, the Australian General Motors subsidiary. Statesman vehicles were sold through Holden dealerships and were initially based on the mainstream Holden HQ station wagon platform, which gave more interior room and more luxurious features than their Holden badged sedan siblings. Production of the marque ceased with the last of the WB series cars in January 1985. Holden reintroduced the range in 1990 with two long wheelbase sedans, but they were sold as the Holden Statesman and Holden Caprice rather than under the Statesman brand, and the Statesman name was discontinued in September 2010.
