Princess was a short-lived British Leyland marque created in 1975 for the large front-wheel-drive family car that had been launched as the Austin, Morris and Wolseley 18-22 series. Built by the Austin-Morris division until 1981, with a small-scale limousine version by Woodall Nicholson, it was pitched against the larger-engined Ford Cortinas and the smaller-engined Ford Granadas. The name had earlier been carried by Austin and Vanden Plas limousines. The Princess marque ended in 1982 when the car was revamped as the hatchback Austin Ambassador.
