McLaughlin was a Canadian car maker, the McLaughlin Motor Car Company Limited, headquartered in Oshawa, Ontario. Robert McLaughlin built carriages from 1867 and became head of what was once the largest carriage factory in the British Empire, and his son Sam began building automobiles around 1905. The company was formed in 1907 and sold McLaughlin and McLaughlin-Buick cars with Buick engines under a fifteen year contract with Buick; in 1915 it also manufactured Chevrolet vehicles for the American and Canadian market. General Motors took it over in 1918 and merged it into General Motors of Canada.
