Maxus is the commercial and passenger vehicle brand of SAIC Maxus Automotive Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor, sold as LDV in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and sometimes called Datong after the pinyin of its Chinese name. The name comes from the LDV Maxus van of the defunct British maker LDV Group, whose intellectual property SAIC bought in 2010. The first Maxus product, the V80 van, was unveiled at the April 2011 Auto Shanghai show, and the G10 minivan followed in 2014. The range is organised in series: D series sport utility vehicles, G series minivans, T series pickup trucks and V series vans, with former models such as the D60 and G20 and several concepts including the Tarantula. In the United Kingdom and Ireland the LDV name was replaced by Maxus in 2020, and in November 2023 the company unveiled a light bus brand called Xintu.
