M2, also known by its nickname Mazda Two, was a small Tokyo automaker and subsidiary of Mazda Motor Corporation that existed from 1991 to 1995. Its business was developing and producing vehicle parts such as body kits, and selling complete vehicles that were modified Mazda products. The company was headquartered in the M2 Building in Tokyo, and the showrooms for its complete vehicles were in the affiliated Setagaya Matsudarotari (Mazda Rotary) Building. Because M2 made its cars only in very small numbers they became high priority targets for collectors, and most known examples are registered in Japan, with some having reached the United States. M2 was closed in 1995, a victim of the collapse of the Japanese asset price bubble that began in 1990.
