North American Rockwell

North American Rockwell was an American aerospace and industrial company formed in September 1967 when North American Aviation merged with Rockwell-Standard Corporation. The combined company continued the aerospace, defense and space work North American Aviation had built up through programs such as the Apollo command and service module and the X-15 rocket plane, while also carrying forward Rockwell-Standard's broader industrial manufacturing lines. North American Rockwell operated under that name for six years before merging again in 1973 with Rockwell Manufacturing Company to form Rockwell International, the name under which its aerospace divisions continued space shuttle and other government work. The company is a direct link in the chain from the wartime aircraft maker North American Aviation to the modern Boeing-owned Rockwell aerospace legacy.
