Kenworth Truck Company is an American manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty trucks founded in 1923 in Seattle, Washington, when Harry Kent and Edgar Worthington took over and renamed the failing Gersix Motor Company. Kenworth built its reputation on customized, heavy-duty construction and long-haul trucks, becoming known for quality over volume production, and its trucks were widely used in logging, construction and long-distance freight hauling across North America. The company became part of Pacific Car and Foundry, later renamed PACCAR, in 1945, and continues to operate today as one of PACCAR's principal truck brands alongside Peterbilt and DAF, manufacturing trucks at plants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia.
