Bombardier

Bombardier Transportation was a Canadian manufacturer of rail vehicles and equipment, founded in 1974 and headquartered jointly in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany. It grew through decades of acquisitions into one of the largest rail vehicle and equipment manufacturers in the world, building rapid transit vehicles, monorails, trams, locomotives, passenger cars and high speed trains for transit systems in cities from New York to Singapore to Toronto, along with propulsion systems, controls and bogies. By February 2020 the company employed about 36,000 people across 63 manufacturing and engineering sites worldwide, though by 2018 it had slipped to become only the third largest rail equipment manufacturer in the Western world. French manufacturer Alstom completed its acquisition of Bombardier Transportation for 4.4 billion euros on January 29, 2021, folding the division into Alstom and ending its existence as an independent company after 47 years.
