Short Brothers was a British aircraft company founded by the brothers Eustace, Oswald and Horace Short, who in 1909 became the first firm in the world to build aeroplanes in series, producing Wright Flyers under licence. It later became famous for flying boats, among them the Empire and the Sunderland, and for large wartime bombers such as the Stirling. After the war it moved to Belfast, built the Skyvan, and was eventually taken over by Bombardier.
