GippsAero, formerly Gippsland Aeronautics, is an Australian aircraft manufacturer based at Latrobe Regional Airport in Morwell, Victoria, that builds single-engined utility aircraft such as the eight-seat GA8 Airvan and the agricultural GA200 Fatman. Peter Furlong founded it in 1977 as an aircraft maintenance and modification business, George Morgan joined him in 1984 to form Gippsland Aeronautics Pty Ltd, and the GA200 agricultural aircraft followed between 1985 and 1991. Design of the GA8 began in 1993 and it was certificated in Australia in 2000. Mahindra Aerospace bought a majority stake in 2009; production of the Airvan was halted in August 2020, Morgan bought the company back in November 2023, and complete aircraft production restarted in June 2025, making GippsAero the only manufacturer of commercial aircraft in Australia.
