Fairey Aviation Company was a British aircraft maker founded in 1915 by Richard Fairey, which built many naval aircraft. Its best-known products were the Swordfish torpedo biplane, which crippled the Italian fleet at Taranto and helped sink the Bismarck, and later the Fulmar, Firefly and Gannet. The company also produced the Delta 2 research aircraft, which broke the world air speed record in 1956, and was absorbed into Westland in 1960.
