Enstrom Helicopter Corporation

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

The Enstrom Helicopter Corporation is an American helicopter manufacturer based at the Menominee-Marinette Twin County Airport in Michigan. It was founded in 1959 by the mining engineer Rudolph J. Enstrom, first as the R.J. Enstrom Corp. Its first product was the piston-powered F-28 of 1965, followed by the 280 Shark introduced in 1974 and later the turbine-powered 480, so that its three model lines are the F-28, the 280 and the 480. Ownership changed many times, with Purex Industries, F. Lee Bailey, Victor Kiam and Dean Kamen among the owners, and the company produced over 1,100 helicopters up to July 2011. The Chongqing Helicopter Investment Corporation bought it in 2013 and it went out of business in January 2022. Surack Enterprises bought the assets from bankruptcy in May 2022 and production restarted, with the first helicopter completed in January 2023.
