The Dennis Eagle Elite was the first of the maker's Elite range of refuse collection chassis, launched in 1992 as the UK's first low entry cab. It replaced the Delta municipal chassis that Dennis Eagle had built until then. Elite chassis were also used outside the refuse market: in 1996 Dennis Eagle received a record order for 155 Elite Utility Vehicles from North West Water. The original Elite was followed by the Elite 2 in 2003, the Elite 6 in 2013 and the Elite+ in 2021, and the Elite name still marks the maker's main chassis range, with more than 1,100 Elite vehicles registered each year in Europe and Australia.
