Renault ZB

The Renault ZB was a French light tank developed by Renault between the world wars and exported to China. Derived from the AMR 33 and fitted with a suspension similar to the AMC 34, it had 9 mm of armour and a 65 horsepower engine. Tested between 1934 and 1936, it was ordered in March 1936 in twelve examples by the Kuomintang, six armed with a 13.2 mm Model 1929 machine gun and six with a 37 mm SA 18 gun, and soon after the autonomous province of Yunnan ordered four more. The Yunnan vehicles were delivered in 1938, but under Japanese pressure the Kuomintang tanks were delivered only in 1940 after passing through French Indochina, and traces of only 10 delivered machines remain. The Chinese ZB went with the Chinese expeditionary force in Burma and disappeared before the Chinese civil war resumed in 1946.
