The M1151 Enhanced Armament Carrier is an improved version of the standard Humvee, designed to replace the M1025A2 used by the United States Armed Forces in response to requirements from United States Central Command. It has a heavier chassis and an improved engine so that it can take add-on armor, and sits on the Expanded Capacity Vehicle chassis, which allows up to 2,300 pounds more passengers or supplies. Its two or four seat sibling, the M1152 Enhanced Troop, Cargo and Shelter Carrier, is meant to replace the M1097A2 Heavy HMMWV and the M1113 Expanded Capacity Vehicle. AM General received contracts covering 31 M1151s, 814 M1152s and armor kits, and the M1151A1 adds a factory-fitted Integrated Armor Package.
