Fiat 626

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Fiat 626 was an Italian medium truck built by Fiat in Turin and introduced in 1939 as the first Fiat truck with forward control, replacing the earlier 621 and 633 models. It was made in a civilian diesel version, the 626N, a longer wheelbase 626NL, and the military 626NLM, which had a differential lock and a wooden body with fixed sides and was built to meet the needs of the Italian Army and Air Force. Regarded as a reliable workhorse, it became the standard Italian medium truck and served in North Africa, East Africa, the Balkans, France and the Soviet Union. France, Bulgaria and later German forces also used it, and about ten thousand were built before production ended in 1948.
