The Volkswagen Transporter T3 is the third generation of the Volkswagen Transporter van, sold as the Type 25 in Britain and the Vanagon in the Americas. It was larger, heavier and more angular than the T2 it replaced but kept the rear-engine, cab-over layout, and it was the last rear-engined Volkswagen. It was built in Hannover from 1978 to 1991, and the Syncro four-wheel-drive version continued at Puch in Graz, Austria until 1992, while South African production carried on until 2002. Early vans used air-cooled flat-four engines, and from 1983 water-cooled Wasserboxer engines took over. The Westfalia camper conversion was offered throughout the run.
