Nissan Caball

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Nissan Caball was a light commercial truck that Nissan Motors built from December 1957 until December 1981. It was sold mainly in Japan, Hong Kong, South East Asian countries, Australia, New Zealand and a few European countries, and it shared the platform of the Nissan Junior. It began in 1957 as a cab-over version of the B40-series Junior, using a 1.5 L four-cylinder engine, and the cab-over layout suited Japanese government dimension rules that tie road tax to vehicle length and width. The second generation of 1960 was the first Caball exported beyond Asia, and a bus version called the Echo existed. The third generation of 1966 gained front-hinged doors, and the fourth, from 1976, was also marketed as the Nissan Clipper. When the Caball ended in 1981 the larger Nissan Atlas took over its role in Japan.
