The Hyundai Starex is a series of light commercial vehicles built by Hyundai from 1996 to 2023. First-generation models were known in Europe as the Hyundai H-1 and in the Netherlands as the H200, and the cargo variant of the second generation was sold as the Hyundai iLoad in Australia and the United Kingdom. The first-generation A1 series succeeded the Hyundai Grace, also known as the H100, in most countries and came in a wide range of configurations: minivan, minibus, van, pick-up, taxi and ambulance. A gasoline engine, a Mitsubishi-derived 4G64 of 147 PS, was offered from the 1998 model alongside a Mitsubishi-derived 4D56 turbo diesel, and a 2.5 litre intercooled turbo-diesel of 86 PS arrived for 1999. It was first restricted to the domestic South Korean market, then exported widely, and was priced below its twin, the Mitsubishi Space Gear, even though it had more features.
