The Hyundai Libero was a passenger-style light cargo truck that Hyundai Motor Company launched in March 2000, built on the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Starex. It was the first small Korean freight vehicle with an optional driver airbag. Engines were a 2.5 litre turbo diesel of 85 horsepower (D4BF), later also an intercooled 103 horsepower version (D4BH) and then a common rail diesel, a V6 3.0 litre LPG engine and, for export only, a V6 3.0 litre Sigma petrol engine. Despite improving on the Porter it sold poorly because of economy and agility concerns; production stopped in December 2007, and remaining stock was sold in January 2008 as it was folded into the Porter. It stayed popular as a tow truck for its ease of service, was exported to Japan as a camper through grey importers, and was sold as the Hyundai SRX because Mitsubishi held the Libero trademark.
