Hyundai Heavy Truck

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Hyundai Heavy Truck was a medium weight truck that Hyundai Motor Company built from 1978 to 1997. In 1977 Hyundai began its long cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors, having until then only built Ford models or sold them in South Korea, and the Heavy Truck sat above the Hyundai D series, which was based on the Ford D series, as a badge engineered version of the Mitsubishi Fuso The Great. The first generation FV3 (90A) of 1978 to 1985 matched the Fuso Great and began with a 10.5 tonne tipper and an 11 tonne cargo truck and tractor unit using a 290 horsepower Mitsubishi Fuso diesel. The second generation FV4 (91A) of 1985 to 1997 gained a 320 horsepower 8DC9-1A diesel, later followed by 355 and 410 horsepower engines, in 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 8x4 and 10x4 forms. Production ended in October 1997 and the Super Truck followed.
