Hyundai HD 1000

The Hyundai HD 1000 was a light truck and minibus that Hyundai Motor Company built from March 1977 to 1981, with a minibus version added in January 1978. Unlike the later Grace and Porter, which took their design from Mitsubishi, it was developed in-house using the frame and platform of the British Ford Transit and the styling of the Hyundai Pony, and its 1,759 cc Perkins 4.108 four-cylinder diesel of 55 horsepower was built by Hyundai under licence. Body choices included one-tonne trucks with standard or double cabs, three- and six-seat vans, a seven-seat ambulance and a 12-seat minibus. The front was revised in 1980, with a black plastic bumper replacing the aluminium one. The 1981 automobile industry rationalisation measures forced production to end, and the Grace and Porter later took its place.
