Hyundai Bison

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Hyundai Bison was a medium-duty truck that Hyundai Motor Company launched in August 1977. It was based on the Ford D Series, with an H-shaped frame and axles designed on that basis while Hyundai developed its own cab, so it can be regarded as a model in its own right. It used a British Perkins 4.236 inline four-cylinder engine of 3,860 cc and 80 horsepower at 2,800 rpm with a six-speed manual gearbox, and was offered as a 3-tonne and a 5-tonne truck, 6,130 and 7,300 mm long respectively. Body types included dump, mixer, cargo, refrigerated, tanker, sewage and cleaning trucks. The 1981 automobile industry rationalisation ended production, and the Bison was succeeded in 1990 by the 91A medium truck, based on the first-generation Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter.
