The Ford Ruhr, type G388T, was a truck that Ford Germany built together with its larger sister model, the Ford Rhein, between 1948 and 1951. It succeeded the Ford V-3000S and was almost exactly the same. Its in line four cylinder gasoline engine of 3,285 cc developed 52 hp and drove the rear wheels through a four or five speed gearbox, with all wheel drive available on request. Trucks usually left the factory with a grey all steel cab and a flatbed on a 4,013 mm wheelbase and a 3,000 kg payload, and from 1952 a shortened 3,404 mm wheelbase version with a payload of only 1,500 or 2,000 kg was sold as an express truck. The Ruhr came only with a petrol engine, which could run on wood gas during the postwar fuel shortage but used around 17 litres per 100 kilometres, and its successor, the Ford FK, also offered diesels.
