The Ford Rhein, type G398TS, was a truck that Ford Germany built together with its smaller sister model, the Ford Ruhr, between 1948 and 1951. It succeeded the Ford V8-51 with only small changes such as larger headlights. Its V8 gasoline engine of 3,924 cc made 90 PS at first and 95 PS from 1949, driving the rear wheels through a four or five speed gearbox, and a Marmon-Herrington all wheel drive system was available on request. Most left the factory with a grey all steel cab and a flatbed on a 4,013 mm wheelbase with a 3,000 kg payload, and from 1949 two low floor chassis were offered for buses with up to 25 seats built by Drauz or NWF. Petrol use hurt it against diesel rivals, and after a modernization in 1951 the Rhein and Ruhr range was renamed Ford FK.
