The medium-duty Ford F-Series is the range of commercial trucks that Ford Motor Company has built since 1948, derived from the F-Series pickups but fitted with its own chassis and, from the 1967 model year, its own front bodywork. It began as the 1.5 ton F-5 and the 2 ton F-6, was renumbered F-500 and F-600 in 1953, and gained diesel versions in 1968 that were marked by an extra zero in the model number. The sixth generation ran from 1980 to 1999. In 2000 the line joined the Ford Super Duty range as the F-650 and F-750, built with Navistar in the Blue Diamond joint venture until 2015, and Class 8 versions of the F-750 have been offered since 2011. The eighth generation, introduced for 2016, is built at the Ohio Assembly plant in Avon Lake with Ford's own 6.7L Power Stroke V8, and the F-600 returned in 2021. The line was sold as straight trucks and truck-tractors, and its cowled-chassis relative was the B series bus chassis.
