The Fiat 24 HP is a truck made and sold by the Italian maker Fiat V.I. between 1903 and 1905, and it is regarded as the first heavy truck the Fiat marque ever made. Its chassis was also used for city buses. At the Milan exhibition of 1901 the young company showed two omnibuses and a small fire-brigade trailer, which led two years later to the first real Fiat truck. Commercial vehicle production began in 1903 with the 24 HP, which took its name from the power of its engine. It was compact but could carry up to 4 tonnes on a dried wood floor for a gross weight of 6 tonnes, and three prototypes were tested before production. The engine was a Fiat twin-block four cylinder, cast in pairs, of 6370 cubic centimetres giving 24 horsepower at 800 revolutions. In 1906 it was built in small series while the 18/24 HP succeeded it.
