Tata 407

The Tata 407 is a light commercial vehicle built by the Indian manufacturer Tata Motors, launched on 21 February 1986 as a mid-size truck positioned between the company's smaller and larger commercial offerings. Built for short and medium-haul goods transport across India's road network, the 407 became one of the most commercially successful trucks in Indian automotive history, with more than 500,000 units sold by 2011, a quarter century after its launch. The 407's durability and widespread dealer and service network made it a familiar sight on Indian roads for decades, and its name became so closely associated with mid-size trucking in India that it is still used informally to describe similarly sized commercial vehicles from other manufacturers.
