Leyland Comet

The Leyland Comet is a long-running truck model badge used by the British manufacturer Leyland Motors across a series of medium-duty trucks, and occasionally buses, built primarily for export markets rather than for Leyland's British home market. Built to be rugged and straightforward to maintain, qualities especially valued by operators in the developing and Commonwealth markets where the Comet name found most of its sales, Leyland used the Comet badge across several genuinely distinct truck generations over multiple decades rather than applying it to a single continuous design. The Comet's export-market focus made it less familiar to British buyers than some of Leyland's domestically focused models, but it played a significant role in establishing Leyland's commercial vehicle presence across Asia, Africa and other export regions during the mid twentieth century.
