Rafts and Lashed-Log Craft

Vessels made by binding logs, reeds or similar floating material together without a built hull, used by coastal and river peoples for fishing, trade and long voyages, such as the balsa rafts of the Pacific coast of South America. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the vessel a raft or a craft of lashed logs, reeds or timbers. It excludes dugouts, canoes and skin boats, outrigger craft and plank built sailing vessels. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
