A felucca is a traditional wooden sailing boat, typically rigged with one or two triangular lateen sails, long used for transport, fishing and trade on the Nile River and along the eastern Mediterranean coast. Simple to build and to sail in the steady winds of the Nile valley, it served for centuries as a principal means of moving people and goods along the river before being supplemented by motorized craft, and it remains widely used today for tourism and leisure sailing in Egypt.
