Bangka is a term for various native watercraft of the Philippines, originally referring to small double-outrigger dugout canoes used on rivers and in shallow coastal waters. Since the eighteenth century the term has broadened to cover larger lashed-lug plank boats as well, with or without outriggers, and regional variants are known across the archipelago under spellings such as banca, panca and panga.
