Honda developed the CX series and released it in the late 1970s, with the GL500 and GL650 Silver Wing among its variants, and production ended in most markets by the mid 1980s. The design included innovative features uncommon at the time: liquid cooling, electric-only starting, low-maintenance shaft drive, modular ComStar wheels and dual CV-type carburetors tuned for reduced emissions. The CX was the first V-twin motorcycle that Honda ever built, with a longitudinal engine and pushrod-operated four-valve heads. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 2 generations: the CX500, 1978 to 1981 (1978 to 1981 model years); the Sports, Turbo and CX650, 1982 to 1983 (1982 to 1983 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
