The Honda CB1000R went into production in 2008, after being unveiled at EICMA in November 2007 as a replacement for the Honda CB900F Hornet, the US-market 919. Its styling cues were borrowed from the 2007 CB600F Hornet, and its engine was a detuned version of the 2007 CBR1000RR engine. The rear suspension was a monoshock with a damper charged with gas, the HMAS, with 10 steps of preload and 130 mm of axle travel.
