The CX500 ended after the 1982 model year. The CX500EC Sports was introduced in 1982 with air pre-load assisted forks with TRAC anti-dive, a Pro-Link monoshock, an 18 inch restyled ComStar wheel, much more effective twin-piston front calipers and a rear disc, and an automatic cam chain tensioner. The CX500 Turbo, produced only for the 1982 model year, was Honda's first production motorcycle with programmed fuel injection, and a larger trunk replaced the small one on the GL500 Silver Wing.
