Honda started the NR (New Racing) series of V-four motorcycles in 1979 with the NR500, a 500 cc Grand Prix racer with oval pistons. This was followed in the 1980s by a 750 cc endurance racer known as the NR750. The oval piston concept allowed eight valves per cylinder, generating more power from the increased air and fuel mixture. In 1992 Honda produced around 300 street versions of a 750 cc model, the NR, often referred to as the NR750 and distinguished by its internal model code RC40, with a 90 degree V angle and elliptical pistons, which became the most expensive production bike at the time at 50,000 dollars. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 3 generations: the NR500 and NR750 racers (1979 to 1991 model years); the NR750 road bike, RC40 (1992 to 2007 model years); the 2008 V4 concept (2008 model year). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
