Sir Benjamin Baker, born in 1840 and died in 1907, was an English civil engineer of the mid to late Victorian era. He helped develop the early underground railways in London with Sir John Fowler, but is best known for his work on the Forth Bridge. He also acted as an expert witness at the public inquiry into the Tay Bridge disaster and later helped design and build the first Aswan Dam. This entry records him as a Victorian bridge and railway engineer so that the works he designed can be linked to him.
