Cambrian Railways owned 230 miles of track across a large area of mid Wales. It was formed through the amalgamation of a number of railways incorporated in 1864, 1865 and 1904, and connected with the London and North Western Railway toward northwest England and the Great Western Railway for routes between London and Wales. Cambrian Railways amalgamated with the Great Western Railway on 1 January 1922 under the Railways Act 1921.
