Siemens Modular Metro

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Siemens Modular Metro is a family of electric multiple unit trains for rapid transit systems, produced by Siemens Mobility, which was originally Siemens Transportation Systems. The vehicle concept was launched in Vienna in 2000 under the name Modular Mobility, abbreviated Mo.Mo, and allows many variants of metro vehicle to be built from modules such as vehicle ends, doors, gangways, roof air conditioning and interiors. Individual vehicles run from 17 to 25 metres long and 2.6 to 3.2 metres wide, in stainless steel or aluminium, and the design is suited to lines carrying 20,000 to 60,000 passengers an hour. Porsche Design styled the bodies. Operators include the Vienna U-Bahn, Oslo Metro, Nuremberg U-Bahn, Guangzhou and Shanghai metros, Taipei Metro and Metro Trains Melbourne. Few are now being built since Siemens moved to the Inspiro platform in 2013.
