Siemens Inspiro

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Siemens Inspiro is a family of electric multiple unit trains designed and manufactured by Siemens Mobility for metro systems. It was launched on 19 September 2012 at the InnoTrans fair in Berlin, and the first Inspiro entered service with Warsaw Metro on 6 October 2013. Development began in October 2009, working with DesignworksUSA on the design, and the family builds on the Modular Metro vehicles Siemens had earlier produced for Vienna, Oslo and Nuremberg. Operators include Warsaw Metro, the Munich U-Bahn, where the trains are designated Class C2, the Nuremberg U-Bahn, Rapid KL in Malaysia, the Sofia Metro, the Riyadh Metro and, under a contract for 94 nine-car sets, the London Underground Piccadilly line, with further orders for Vienna, Sydney and Shanghai.
