EMD SD75I

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The EMD SD75I is a diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division as part of the SD75 series produced between 1994 and 1996. The I stands for isolated cab, called a WhisperCab by EMD, which reduces noise and vibration because the cab is not attached directly to the frame, and shows as a seam separating nose and cab as on the SD60I and SD70I. It was the last model to use the I designation, and later units kept the isolated cab but used M in the name. Canadian National was the largest buyer with 175 units, followed by BNSF with 26 and Ontario Northland with 6.
