The X'Trapolis 2.0 is a series of electric multiple unit trains produced for the suburban rail network of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, part of Alstom's X'Trapolis family. Construction started in 2024 at Alstom's Ballarat North Workshops, testing began in March 2025 and the first train set entered service on 3 May 2026. The trains will replace the Comeng fleet on the Craigieburn, Upfield and Frankston lines; the Comeng trains, first introduced in 1982, are the oldest in operation on the network. Testing began on 7 March 2025 on the Werribee line between Newport and Laverton, and on 3 May 2026 Set 5 became the first of the fleet to enter service, running the 9:06am Flinders Street to Upfield service. In the 2021 to 2022 state budget the Victorian Government announced 986 million dollars for an initial order of 25 trains, and on 20 April 2026 an additional 25 sets were ordered, bringing the fleet to a total of 50 six-car trains, enough to replace the remaining Comeng sets. They are being built at Alstom's Dandenong and Ballarat North Workshops with a 60 percent local content quota.
