The SNCF Class Z 9500 electric multiple units were built by Alstom between 1982 and 1983. Together with the Z 9600 units they are the dual-voltage version of the Z2 family, whose other classes are the Z 7300 and Z 7500. They are operated by TER Franche-Comté, TER Bourgogne and TER Rhône-Alpes. Many units still run in their original livery and have the original orange interior, although the first refurbished units with the unified TER livery and AGC-style interiors were beginning to appear as of July 2007. The Z2 family of multiple units was designed by Francorail and the Ateliers de construction du Nord de la France.
